Speaker: Charmaine Bailie (Te Uri o Hau –Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara)
Topic: Sedimentation is one of the biggest challenges the Manukau Harbour faces and the key to healing the causes and impacts of sedimentation lies in healing the whenua. Charmaine Bailie is a regenerative ecologist, Te Taiao practitioner and community leader that works closely with mana whenua. She was awarded NZ Environmental Hero of the Year2022 & is an expert in regeneration of the whenua on a large scale and knows how to bring people together weaving indigenous knowledge and systems to create better outcomes over generations.
This presentation was part of a full-day wānanga focused on restoring the health and creating hope for the Manukau Harbour, supported by the Manukau Harbour Forum, Auckland Council.
